Clear Aligners
Clear aligners, are a modern and convenient alternative to traditional braces. Clear aligners are custom-made, clear plastic trays that fit snugly over the teeth. They work by gradually shifting the teeth into the desired position over time.
01. Why choose clear aligners?
Clear aligners are virtually invisible, making them a great option for adults or teenagers who are concerned about the appearance of braces.
They are removable, which means that you can take them out to eat, brush, and floss your teeth.
Clear aligners are more comfortable to wear than traditional braces, with no wires or brackets to irritate the mouth.
Clear aligners typically require fewer adjustments than traditional braces, meaning fewer visits to the orthodontist.
02. What can you expect during clear aligners treatment?
The first step in clear aligners treatment is a consultation with one of our experienced orthodontists. During this appointment, we will assess your needs and create a personalized treatment plan.
Next, our orthodontist will take impressions of your teeth and send them to a dental lab where your custom clear aligners will be made.
When your aligners are ready, you will receive a series of aligners, each one representing a different stage of the treatment. You will wear each aligner for about two weeks before switching to the next one in the series.
The duration of treatment can vary, but most patients can expect to wear clear aligners for 12-18 months.
03. Can clear aligners treat all kinds of malocclusion?
Clear aligners can effectively treat a variety of orthodontic issues, but not all types of malocclusion. They are most commonly used to treat mild to moderate cases of misaligned teeth, crowding, gapped teeth, and bite issues such as overbite or underbite. Clear aligners can effectively align the front teeth and improve the overall appearance of the smile.
However, clear aligners may not be suitable for certain types of malocclusion or severe cases of misalignment. For example, clear aligners are not typically recommended for patients with severe overbite or underbite, or for patients with significant jaw discrepancies. In these cases, traditional braces or other orthodontic treatments may be more appropriate.
It's worth mentioning that clear aligners are not recommended for patients with severe malocclusion, in this cases a combination of treatments may be needed, such as traditional braces combined with jaw surgery. A proper diagnosis and treatment plan is important to achieve the best results.
